T-72 M T-72 tank retrofit ( modification 85 ). In the T-72 M1 modification the upper armouring and the turret armouring, with ceramic cores, have been reinforced; in the T-72 M ( 85 ) modification only the turret armouring has been reinforced and smoke-producing equipment has been added. Since the beginning of its production, i.e. since 1985, the T-72 M has been designed for export; the last tank from the series was produced in 1993. In many countries it is still being used.
The production, which was, naturally, based on a Soviet license, was also realized on the territory of the former Czechoslovakia in ZTS Martin where it began in 1986.
