The BRDM2 is a Soviet reconnaissance armoured carrier with a 4x4 drive, (Bronirovannaja razvedyvatělno-dozornaja mašina BRDM). From the original BRDM-2 the turret was dismounted and at the same time the inside space for the crew was modified ( since then only 2 members). The modifications were made due to installing a telescopic rocket launcher with M-rockets in the central part of the vehicle. The pair of wheels in the central part of the vehicle, which served for getting over wide trenches and for better off-road capability in general, is still considered an interesting technical detail.
It was developed to substitute the BRDM1.
